If you think the number of scholarships available for students is scarce – let’s talk about the number of health professionals serving in medically underserved communities.
The National Health Services Corps has a scholarship that supports enrolled physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, or physician assistants who are committed to primary care.
What makes this scholarship unique? The Program requires one year of service for each year of support with a minimum of two years of service and a maximum of four years of support and service. The trade off? This program will pay for tuition, fees, and other educational costs; it also provides a monthly support stipend.
The NHSC encourages applicants to apply early as the process is estimated to take up to 3 weeks to complete. Applications must be completed by May 15th at 7:30 PM EST; more information can be found on the Nursing Corps website.
