Kathryn Niemeyer PhD, MSc, MSN, FNP-BC, RN to Speak at the 2017 Michigan Nursing Summit

We're pleased to announce that Kathryn Niemeyer PhD, MSc, MSN, FNP-BC, RN will be speaking on Friday of the 2017 Michigan Nursing Summit, October 11-13. Niemeyer will be speaking on Complementary and Integrative Medicine.

Niemeyer is a Family Nurse Practitioner with a PhD in nursing and a second Master’s degree in herbal medicine. She teaches at Ferris State University and practices in a small private integrative health practice in northern Michigan.

Niemeyer's clinical practice offers complementary and integrative health consultations for health promotion and disease prevention. Treatments are focused on nutrition, herbal medicine, body work, and life-style choices. Along with teaching research and graduate courses at Ferris, she is involved in conducting research on nutritional and herbal protocols used along with conventional therapies in patients with breast cancer.

While she was a PhD student at the University of Arizona (UA), Niemeyer was the recipient of a 3-year NCCAM fellowship in Whole Systems of Complementary and Integrative Medicine through the School of Family Medicine. She did her dissertation in herbal medicine. Along with having several articles and book chapters published, she provides peer-review for a variety of professional nursing and medical journals. Likewise, recently Niemeyer had the opportunity to assisted the USDA test and refine a web-delivered database on herbal medicine.
